The City of Townsend would like to announce an opportunity for interested residents to express their interest in becoming a member of a Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. This board will be instrumental in anything pertaining to our city park and recreational events. The board will be promoting community involvement and engaging in events that support a fun and healthy atmosphere for the town. The board will meet regularly to discuss any upcoming events, plan, coordinate future events, and make additions or improvements to the city park. The board will also be involved with helping with the Parks and Rec Master Plan which will go hand in hand with our Community Plan. The board will search for grants that can be used to better the town’s resources and structures. The Board of Commissioners will be nominating four new board members in total. Interested applicants must have a Townsend address for consideration. At least two members of the board must live within the city limits of Townsend.
